Meet the guys

Anthony was born and raised in Upstate New York. He really fell in love with the game of golf in his early 20s, although he has been playing since he was twelve. He has a very supportive wife who knows how addicted he is to golf, so she allows him to disappear hours at a time. He has two beautiful girls who are taking after their father, also in love the game of golf! Anthony has a small business of his own and is hoping to help other small businesses grow, especially anything golf related. Anthony also has a love for podcasting, and in 2024 he started his own, and called it “The Upstate Golf Guys”. They are highlighting their trips to Cape Cod with a ton of golf talk in between! Now at age 40 Anthony holds a 17 handicap and is continuing to get better one day at a time!

Mike “Mikey”

A Troy native, Mike’s journey with golf started slow and later in life, at age 35 he started bringing his kids to the driving range and batting cages for some family bonding. It grew to him going to the driving range alone on weekends to learn the game and then he was hooked! He bought a cheap set of clubs and hit a local 9 hole course. Fast forward to now, Mike is 50 years old and addicted to the game of golf like most of us. Mike teamed up with Anthony, his lifelong pal and together they created the Upstate Golf Guys and their 518 Golfs the Cape journey.

Brad “Scrounge”

Nicknamed "Scrounge" because he goes into the woods to find his ball and comes out with 6 every time, Brad fell in love with the game of golf about 10 years ago. Brad moved out to Arizona in 2016 where he played golf down there all year long, and when he came back to his hometown of Troy, New York, he had the bug! He plays regularly, especially enjoying rounds with his parents and always battling his partner in crime Anthony. They both hold a 17 handicap and go back and forth beating each-other!! Brad recently started joining Mike and Anthony, on their golf trips to the Cape, they officially made Brad part of the wolf pack this year.

Meet the Team

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.

Roger “RGB”

Roger was born and raised in Troy, NY and he has always been an athlete. A lifelong baseball and basketball player to be exact. He has had the competitive nature built into him since he was a child. RGB has always fooled around at Frear Park with his good friend Neil, trying to keep up and learn the game with right-handed clubs after being a lefty his whole life! He went to par 3 courses in the area to teach himself the game. At the start of the pandemic, Roger started playing some serious golf, becoming a member at Frear Park and having a really good stick, shooting in the 80s regularly…. RGB is the host of the “Pitch Putt and Puff” podcast igniting the idea for Anthony and the “Upstate Golf Guys” podcast. Anthony recently invited Roger to be part of the gang, and he will make his first Cape trip with the boys this Spring! RGB is now a co-host on the “Upstate Golf Guys” Podcast as the 4th member!

Tom “Multiple Personality” Mayone was born and raised in the Village of Saugerties. He didn’t really take golf seriously until the end of high school. In the beginning, the sport was utilized to spend time with his father and paternal grandparents. Eventually it grew into a part of his overall character. He is part Phil the Thrill, part Bryson the Scientist, and part Adam Sandler the Comic. Whether he’s smashing long drives, sticking it close from a troubled lie or clowning on himself or his foursome, you’ll find him bringing joy to whatever links he’s on. At 41 years young he’ll be playing for the foreseeable future, while bringing of his many personalities to the podcast!

Adam Cahill was born and raised in the Capital Region. He has been playing golf since he was a kid and taught by his grandpa. He has been involved with sports all his life, but his true passion was always golf. A few years after high school, he served in the United States Navy and in 2009 started a career at New York State Tax and Finance. He not only works for New York full time, but in 2021, he became the Tour Director of the Golf Week Amateur Tour NY Upstate region where in a short time, has made this region successful. He is compassionate about helping others love golf more and to experience golf tournament atmospheres for all golfers and skill sets. He has a wonderful wife and family who support him and his busy schedule. This allows him to ensure the success of this tour while promoting enjoyment and skill development in the game of golf. He enjoys not only managing the tour but also being a regular co-host with Anthony on the Golf Week Spotlight segment of the Upstate Golf Guys Podcast.

Mike was born raised in Florida. As soon as he turned 21, he moved to Chicago and worked as a chef and bartender for 14 years. Mike found himself back in the great of Florida and picked up the game we all love-golf. Now, golf is life for Mike as he does full club repairs, provides lessons, and offers professional fittings for Tour Edge, Callaway, and Srixon. He has played on the Golfweek Amateur Tour for four years in the North Central Florida region—three years as flight champion and a national champion in 2023.

Florida Mike will bring his golf expertise to the podcast with some Central Florida Golfweek Amateur Tour updates along with his occasional conspiracy theories!
